Wedding
Scottish Style
On the 27th of April John Lowden and Amanda Pollock were
married at the church building. Many of you will know Luke and
Stephanie Gibson from there trip to Lubbock last summer. The service
was very special with a distinctly Scottish theme to reflect Amanda's
ancestry. I think it will be remembered by all with great fondness.
Baptisms
The month of May was a particularly
joyous month for us here in Washington as we were able to witness 3
baptisms. On the 13th of May Julie Reid, the wife of Frank Reid was
baptised. On the15th of May Richard Gillit, who attends services in
Newcastle upon Tyne was baptised into Christ. Then on the 27th of May
Linda Graham, who works as the voluntary church secretary was baptised into
Christ. The Lord has truly blessed us immensely over this past year
and we praise His name for these recent events.

Asylum
Seekers BBQ
On the 28th of May a BBQ was held at the building for all of those in
Washington who are seeking asylum in the U.K. and those who are
working with them. We had a great day with more than a hundred people
in attendance. Most were Asylum Seekers from around the world.
We had people from Iran, Russia, Sri Lanka, the Czek Republic, Poland,
Somalia, Romania as well as some visitors from America in attendance.
Everyone seemed to have a great time and it was extremely interesting to see
the various cultures mix.
Family
News
On the 17th of April I had my first
day in court, officially sitting on the bench. It is a little bit hard
to get accustomed to being referred to as 'Your Worship'. I thought
about getting Michele and the kids to help me be referring to me in this
manner at home, but decided that this might not be the best idea I have ever
had. Everything went well and now I have had a number of opportunities
to sit in the various courts of North Durham. It has been very
interesting and I have learned a lot and met a large number of new people.
Jonathan and Joshua are in the midst of their exams at school. For
Joshua this an extremely important time. Depending upon his scores on
these exams he will either repeat this past year or move ahead to his next
level. For Jonathan it is important as well, but he only has one year
invested in his exams instead of the five that Joshua has invested in his.
As many of you may already be aware, Michele, Heather and Jared left for
Lubbock on the 31st of May for a 3 month furlough. The boys will be
arriving on the 3rd of July and I will follow on the 10th of July. We
look forward to seeing everyone and thanking people in person for all of
their prayers and support. May God bless you richly.
