Sonshine Preschool is a top quality teaching school designed to aid in the growth of preschool children spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially.
At Sonshine Preschool, we believe learning should be fun! The children are taught by experienced, qualified teachers. A low child-teacher ratio is always maintained. Our teachers go to great lengths to make your child feel loved and secure while in their care.
Classroom activities include Bible lessons, application stories, art, music, phonics and science.
Learning center time is structured to help children learn numbers, colors, shapes, patterns, and manipulative activities to aid in the development of fine and gross motor skills. Before graduating, students are evaluated on kindergarten readiness skills for their parents' information.
Physical education is an added feature of our curriculum. Learning how to play with other children through physical activity is very important at the preschool age. Our Physical Education instructor teaches various games, exercises and activities. She also teaches locomotor (hopping, skipping, jumping and sliding) skills, as well as sports-related activities.
Sonshine Preschool includes many special activities along with our daily classes. Field trips are an important part of the hands-on learning process. Students take trips to the Mahon Library, the apple orchard, the South Plains Fair, the pumpkin patch, and the Ranching Heritage Center. The children also look forward to monthly puppet shows, a Fall carnival, a Thanksgiving Feast, a visit from Santa, and the Sonshine Circus. Spring brings a visit from the fireman and the policeman and a fun-filled Western Day with horse back riding and cookout. We finish the year with an End of the Year Program and Graduation.

Children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years may attend Sonshine Preschool.

Sonshine Preschool operates from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays & Thursdays from September through May. We observe the same holiday and bad weather schedule as Lubbock public schools.
