Broadway Church of Christ is beginning a new phase in its long
history as we have hired Wes Crawford to serve as preaching minister.
Wes
graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1998 with a degree in
Bible and preaching, and
received his Masters of Divinity from Emory University and Abilene
Christian University. While
he completed his graduate work in Abilene, Wes
served as the pulpit minister of the
Orient Street Church of Christ in Stamford, Texas, for three
years. For the past two
years, he has been working as the
singles minister at Woodmont Hills Church of
Christ in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has also had the
opportunity to share the pulpit with Rubel Shelly and John York on a
regular basis.
During
his time at Vanderbilt, his studies focused
on church history, and his particular
area of interest was the history of American religion.
In the near future, Wes will complete his dissertation, which
centers on a civil rights court case that took place in Nashville,
Tennessee, between African American and white members of Churches of
Christ. Wes
has had three articles published in the Stone-Campbell
Encyclopedia (Eerdmans, 2004) and a book review published in Wineskins
Magazine.
Wes and his wife Kim met as students of Lubbock Christian University and have
been married for seven years. They
have four children: four
year old twins, Elizabeth and Anna, and two sons, Luke and Ben.
